Panchayat Samiti Member’s Husband Reveals Shooters’ Names Before Death In Odisha’s Balangir
Balangir: The husband of a Panchayat Samiti member, who was shot in the district on Monday, has revealed the names of three assailants before his death.
A video recording of his words on the death bed has gone viral in social media. In the video, the slain BJD leader, Loknath Biswal is seen saying that five persons had come to meet him and Basu, Badabudha and Nianta shot at him. He could not take the names of two others.
According to sources, some persons had come to meet Loknath’s wife Banita Biswal, who was elected as panchayat samiti member of Bagdor panchayat under Belapada block in recently concluded elections, at her house in Bagdor on Monday night.
As Loknath, who was block president of the BJD’s farmers’ wing, opened the door, they shot at him from close range. Lokanath, who sustained bullet injuries in the chest, was rushed to Belapada hospital where he succumbed.
According to reports, police have detained five persons in this connection and launched an investigation. Old rivalry is suspected to have led to the incident.
