Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly was paralysed on Wednesday amid uproarious scenes created by members opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Congress over several issues, including restructuring of Mission Shakti.
As soon as the House assembled for the day, the opposition legislators were on their feet creating noisy scenes and disrupting the question hour.
Repeated requests made by Speaker Surama Padhy went unheeded and the opposition MLAs trooped into the well of the House targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government over Mission Shakti and other issues.
Accusing the BJP government of trying to weaken Mission Shakti by restructuring the initiative, BJD and Congress legislators created ruckus in the well of the House. They alleged that the way Mission Shakti is being sought to be restructured would weaken it instead of empowering the women.
As pandemonium prevailed paralysing the proceedings, the Speaker adjourned the House till 4 pm after being unable to restore normalcy.
