Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday said that Rs 797-crore green hydrogen jetty at Paradip Port would attract substantial investments and enhance the overall maritime economy of Odisha.
“With a capacity of 4 MTPA, this project will connect Odisha’s emerging green hydrogen production clusters to global markets, strengthen clean energy export logistics and advance India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission. The initiative will further accelerate green investments, generate employment and reinforce Odisha’s role in building a sustainable and future-ready maritime economy,” Majhi said in a post on X.
The project includes a dedicated jetty with allied facilities for handling green hydrogen, ammonia and other liquid cargo at Paradip port. It will be implemented on a build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis by the Paradip Port Authority, which will provide capital support equivalent to 20 per cent of the project cost, amounting to Rs 159.43 crore, during the construction phase. The project is expected to be completed within 24 months.
“The initiative will accelerate green investments, generate employment and reinforce Odisha’s role in building a sustainable and future-ready maritime economy,” the CM said, while expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways Sarbanand Sonwal.
Sonowal had earlier said the the dedicated green hydrogen jetty will play a critical role in strengthening export logistics and integrating Odisha’s emerging green hydrogen production clusters with global markets. “The Paradip project will not only enhance cargo capacity but also catalyse investment, generate employment and create a robust green energy ecosystem in eastern India,” he added.
