Paris Olympics 2024: Odisha MLA Kalikesh Singh Deo Appointed India’s Deputy Chef-De-Mission

Bhubaneswar: Senior BJD MLA Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo has been appointed India’s Deputy-chef-de-mission for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Singh Deo, representing Balangir constituency in the Odisha Legislative Assembly, is Senior vice president of National Rifle Association of India. He is accompanying the Indian contingent to Paris for the Olympics.

Singh Deo was present at the Olympics venue during the shooting events on Saturday. India ‘narrowly’ missed medal in 10 m air rifle mixed team event, he said.

Speaking to ANI, Singh Deo said, “Indian shooting team is very strong. It has 10 more days of competition and we are hopeful about winning medals.”

As Deputy chef-de-mission, Singh Deo replaced four-time Olympian Gagan Narang who was appointed India’s Chef-de-mission earlier this month. Olympics air rifle bronze medallist Narang was appointed as Chef-de-mission following Mary Kom’s resignation from the post.

Mary Kom stepped down from her role as chef-de-mission for the 2024 Paris Olympics due to health issues. P.V. Sindhu has also been confirmed as the female flagbearer for the Olympics.
