New Delhi: There’s no stopping Manu Bhaker.
The 22-year-old shooter from Haryana’s Jhajjar made her third final in as many events in the Paris Olympics as she finished second in women’s 25m pistol qualification at Chateauroux shooting ranges, around 270 km from Paris.
Manu shot 294 in the precision stage of and followed it with an even more impressive 296 in the rapid stage to tally an aggregate score of 590 out of a possible 600.
Here is Manu’s scoring chart on Friday:
Hungarian Veronika Major topped the qualification event with 592, while Iran’s Haniyeh Rostamiyan was placed third with a score of 588.
Manu’s fellow-Indian Esha Singh missed out on the finals, finishing 18th in qualification with a score of 581 — 291 in precision and 290 in rapid.
The top eight qualified for the final, to be held at 1 pm on August 3.
Manu will look to add to her tally of 2 bronze medals that she has already bagged in Paris — in Women’s Individual 10m Air Pistol and Mixed Team 10m Air Pistol events.
She will, in fact, improve the colour of medal and gun for gold as she bids to become the first Indian individual sportsperson to win three Olympic medals.
