Hyderabad: In another incident of unacceptable passenger misconduct, a businessman from Tamil Nadu was deboarded from an IndiGo flight and handed over to police at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International (RGI) Airport.

The man, who had boarded flight 6E-6323 on Friday morning, which was travelling from Hyderabad to Udaipur, allegedly clicked inappropriate pictures of female staff members.

The accused, identified as Praveen, was seated on seat 6B and reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time when he clicked pictures of the female crew, which made them uncomfortable.

A complaint was filed by IndiGo representative Omprakash with the RGI Airport Outpost police. It stated that Praveen used his mobile phone to zoom in and photograph female crew members, targeting their legs, faces and bodies. The accused also used foul and abusive language at those around him, one of whom made a formal complaint about Praveen’s conduct.

The cabin crew warned Praveen a number of times, but the latter continued to behave in a rude manner. The crew was then forced to deboard the offensive passenger before the flight took off.

Airport Outpost police registered a case against Praveen under Section 79 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which criminalises any word, gesture, act, or object intended to insult the modesty of a woman or intrude upon her privacy.

This adds to a growing list of incidents of unruly passenger cases, forcing airlines and aviation authorities to enforce strict action against disruptive behaviour on board.

An IndiGo passenger, claiming to be possessed, attempted to open an emergency door mid-flight recently. In another case, a man was arrested for molesting a co-passenger on a flight from Hanoi.
