Patna: Passengers traveling on New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Duronto Express were reportedly robbed of their valuables in the early hours of Friday near Gaya in Bihar.
According to an official from the Gaya Government Railway Police (GRP), a group of robbers made off with bags, mobile phones, laptops, and other personal items from 12 individuals travelling in five coaches of the train. They then pulled the emergency chain between Paraiya and Kastha stations at around 2 am and vanished into darkness.
The passenger claimed that suspicious individuals were seen roaming suspiciously on the train after it left DDU station on Thursday night and criticised the absence of Railway Protection Force patrols.
On being informed, railway police and local Paraiya police began an investigation and found several empty bags near the tracks, suggesting that the thieves had discarded them after taking valuables. Police suspect involvement of a well-organised gang in the incident.
Notably, two months ago, a similar incident was reported from the same train near Tankuppa station on the Gaya-Koderma railway section.
