The Ministry has informed the company that advertisement of drugs including Ayurvedic medicines are regulated under the provisions of Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable advertisement) Act, and the directives issued by the Central government in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

In order to verify the claims of the Patanjali, the Ministry has asked it to provide details of the names and compositions of the medicines, research study and others.

Patanjali has also been told to stop advertising and publishing such claims till the issue is duly examined.

Earlier on the day, Patanjali launched Coronil tablets, an ayurvedic medicine which it claimed can cure COVID-19 patients in 3-14 days, at Patanjali Yogpeeth in Haridwar. It had also claimed that the tablet had shown 100 per cent favourable results during clinical trials on affected patients, at Patanjali Yogpeeth.
