Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s rich artistic heritage is on display at the 7th edition of the Prime Minister’s Mementos e-Auction, with 21 artefacts, celebrating it handloom and mythological storytelling, up for bidding.
Launched in 2019, the annual auction, organised by the Ministry of Culture through the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) in Delhi, offers citizens a chance to own gifts presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Proceeds from the auction, which will continue till October 2, support the Namami Gange Project, which is dedicated to the rejuvenation of the Ganga.
Among Odisha’s key highlights this year are Pattachitra artworks depicting tales of Lord Krishna, Radha, and Lord Ganesh, painted in natural colours on palm leaf or traditional media preserving centuries-old artistry, a Silver Peacock Memento highlighting the state’s mastery of filigree craft, combining elegance with national symbolism, and a Tussar Silk Painting of Navagunjara, capturing the mythical nine-element form of Lord Krishna, blending nature, mythology, and textile skill.
