Chandbali: Police on Tuesday seized as many as 600 bags of rice meant for distribution under Public Distribution System (PDS) from a truck at Chandbali in Bhadrak district.
The driver of the truck was detained while another person who was accompanying him managed to escape from the spot.
Following a tip-off regarding illegal transportation of rice, the vehicle was intercepted near Baitarani river bridge and the rice seized, police sources said.
The vehicle was heading towards Kendrapara from Chandbali, the sources added.
