Lucknow: At least four people were killed and several others injured after a major fire broke out at a coaching-cum-gaming zone in Lucknow’s Aliganj area on Monday.
The fire sparked panic and a large-scale rescue operation.
The blaze reportedly erupted inside the institute building and spread rapidly, trapping people. Fire brigade teams, police personnel and district administration officials rushed to the spot and launched rescue and evacuation efforts. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, as reported by The Times of India.
Heartrending visuals from the scene showed people jumping from the first floor of the building to escape the flames as thick smoke and fire engulfed the gaming zone.
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the incident and directed senior officials to immediately reach the site and supervise rescue and relief operations. He instructed authorities to expedite evacuation efforts and ensure proper medical treatment for the injured.
He also ordered officials to remain on high alert and provide all possible assistance to those affected. He expressed concern over the incident and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
Fire department teams continued search and cooling operations to check if anyone remained trapped inside the building. Authorities have ordered an investigation into the cause of the fire and any possible safety lapses.
