Petrol Pump Blast In Bhubaneswar: Traffic Curbs To Remain Till Thursday Afternoon
Bhubaneswar: Following the massive blast at a petrol pump in Bhubaneswar, police said the restrictions on the movement of traffic along the site will continue till Thursday afternoon.
Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi said although IOCL technicians have emptied the CNG from the tanker, there is enough stock of diesel and petrol in the underground chambers.
“The IOCL authorities have begun to empty the fuels from these two underground chambers. As the process will continue for a couple of hours, traffic movement along the areas near the filling station will be restricted. We hope that the traffic restriction will be normal after 2 pm,” Sarangi said.
Also on Thursday, a Fire Brigade team, ODRAF personnel and State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) officials arrived at the petrol pump with a JCB machine for a joint probe into the incident.
As decided, a 30-feet deep pit caused by the blast will be dug out as it is suspected that some people might have been trapped under the debris.
