Jagatsinghpur: Two days after the plaque of a newly constructed bridge was demolished before its inauguration by Odisha’s Higher Education Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak in Kendrapada district, Health Minister Niranjan Pujari faced similar situation in Jagatsinghpur on Sunday.
According to sources, Pujari was scheduled to lay the foundation stone for construction of a new building of Community Health Centre (CHC) at Mandasahi in Jagatsinghpur district in the evening. The officials of Health department and local leaders had made all arrangements for the programme.
Before the Minister could go to the spot, the plaque at the site was found broken into pieces. The locals suspected that as the name of Mandasahi Sarpanch Puspalata Das was not mentioned in the plaque, her supporters might have damaged it. But the sarpanch has not said anything to the media about the incident.
The officials of the CHC have filed a complaint at the local police station. The police have started investigation.
It may be noted that Minister Nayak had to return without inaugurating a bridge over a rivulet at Nipania under Batighar panchayat of Mahakalapada block in Kendrapada district as its plaque had been damaged before his arrival on Friday.
