PM Modi Congratulates Joe Biden, Vows To Work Closely
New Delhi: India Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted US President-elect Joe Biden after the latter got elected as the 46th president of the United States on Saturday. Modi said that India is looking forward to work closely together.
Modi also congratulated Vice President-elect Kamala Harris and termed her success as path-breaking.
“Congratulations Joe Biden on your spectacular victory! As the VP, your contribution to strengthening Indo-US relations was critical and invaluable. I look forward to working closely together once again to take India-US relations to greater heights,” Modi said via a series of tweets.
The prime minister also tweeted his congratulatory message to Harris, who has become the first woman vice-president of the country. “Heartiest congratulations Kamala Harris! Your success is pathbreaking, and a matter of immense pride not just for your chittis, but also for all Indian-Americans. I am confident that the vibrant India-US ties will get even stronger with your support and leadership,” the PM tweeted.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi too extended her greetings to Biden and Harris. “Under the wise and mature leadership of President-Elect Biden and Vice President-Elect Harris; India looks forward to a close partnership that will be beneficial to peace and development in our region and around the world,” she said.
