New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) here at 11 am on Wednesday.
This is the second critical meeting of CCS, the country’s highest decision-making body on national security, after the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. Security preparations are likely to be discussed at this meeting.
Later in the day, PM Modi will also chair a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA), which is being convened after a considerable gap. The CCPA comprises Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Health Minister JP Nadda, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju and Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, among others.
The Cabinet’s Economic Affairs Committee will meet thereafter, followed by a cabinet meeting, according to reports.
In the first CCS meeting, which was held a day after the deadly terror attack on tourists at Pahalgam on April 22, a series of retaliatory measures, including suspension of the decades-old Indus Waters Treaty, were announced against Pakistan for its alleged role behind the massacre.
