New Delhi: On a day when Mexico went the American way in imposing steep tariffs on India, China and other Asian countries, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a “warm and engaging” telephonic conversation with US President Donald Trump.
Amid months-long trade tension between India and the US, Modi and Trump reviewed the progress in bilateral relations.
“Had a very warm and engaging conversation with President Trump. We reviewed the progress in our bilateral relations and discussed regional and international developments. India and the US will continue to work together for global peace, stability and prosperity,” PM Modi wrote on X after his conversation with Trump on Thursday.
The two leaders reviewed progress in the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, and expressed satisfaction at the steady strengthening of bilateral cooperation across all domains, India Today reported.
They discussed various regional and global developments, and agreed to work closely to address shared challenges and advance common interests. They agreed to remain in touch.
Thursday’s tele-conference came two months after Modi called Trump to congratulate him on the “success” of the Gaza peace plan.
