Police Foil Ganja Smuggling In Ambulance, Arrest 2 Persons In Odisha’s Boudh

Boudh: The ganja smugglers’ plan to hoodwink the police by carrying the contraband in an ambulance in Odisha’s Boudh district was foiled on Tuesday.

Speaking to media persons on the matter, Boudh SDPO Anand Bardhan Guru said Tularam Mahanad, the in-charge officer of Sagada outpost under Manmunda police limits, received reliable information about smuggling of ganja.

On the basis of the information that the smugglers were carrying ganja in an ambulance from Gochhapada under Kandhamal district, a police team waited for them at Sindira on the route. As the ambulance arrived, they intercepted it. While the two accused travelling in the vehicle were trying to flee, the police nabbed them

On checking the ambulance, the police found 94 kg of ganja packed in three plastic bags. The contraband was seized and the two persons were arrested.

The arrested persons were identified as Prashant Guru (21) of Ankun village on Manmunda police station and Kaliash Singh (54) of VSS Nagar in Bargarh town. Kailash is the owner of the ambulance. Both have been forwarded to court, said the SDPO.
