Bhubaneswar: Are the number plates of your vehicles partially covered, distorted, defaced or broken ? Beware of police action! The Commissionerate Police in Odisha capital is going to crack down on the vehicle owners or bike riders if number plates of their vehicles are found blurred, distorted, or deliberately broken, defaced with any colour or numbers invisible for any reason.
“Fine will be collected from the riders or vehicles owners if they are tampering with the number plates for any reason or their vehicles are found with distorted, broken and defaced number plates during the checking. If need arises, their vehicles will be seized,” said traffic ACP Swastik Panda on Sunday.
It was alleged that some people are deliberately covering their number plates to save them from being caught for their suspicious activities.
Meanwhile, the CP has already drawn up an action plan against the people doing such activities.
A special drive has already been launched to catch the vehicles whose number plates are not clearly visible to police or public. Now, traffic police have started checking such vehicles at strategic places of Bhubaneswar.
The traffic ACP further stated that people are being urged to take to social media platforms to inform about the traffic problems at any part of the city so that the issue will be addressed on a priority basis.
