Police Unearth Huge Dump Of Maoist Arms In Odisha’s Koraput

Koraput: Police have unearthed a huge arms dump of the Maoists during a special operation in the border areas with Andhra Pradesh.

Based on reliable inputs, a team consisting of district voluntary force (DVF) and Bomb Disposal Squad of Koraput Police, led by Koraput SP launched an operation on Odisha-AP border on Monday. During search operation, a huge arms dump of Maoists of AOBSZC was recovered from near Ankadelli village under Machhkund tehsil of the district on the border with Andhra.

A large amount of explosives, electronic and other articles were recovered from the dump. This dump was hidden by Maoist leaders Uday, Aruna and Suresh to target the security forces in AOB area with the help of local militias.

Five bundles of codex wire, 100 detonators, 15 walkie-talkies, and 3 steel containers were found from the dump.

After launch of ‘Operation Ghar-Wapsi, Operation ‘KHOJ’ was launched by Odisha Police to unearth dumps of Maoists in Malkangiri and Koraput districts with an aim to completely sanitise and demine the area. In that series, this dump was recovered.

After ‘Pperation Ghar-Wapsi’, a lot of Maoist militias and supporters are coming forward and cooperating with police and administration. Operation ‘KHOJ’ will continue in the two districts in future also, the SP said in a press release on Tuesday.
