Jharsuguda: The unauthorised actions of a driver of a police vehicle have raised public outrage in the district.
A video that has gone viral shows the driver, Joshi Tandi beating a number of people and forcing a youth to do sit-up for flouting the shutdown rules here. The incident took place on Saturday when the personnel of Brajarajnagar police station were on patrolling duty in their jeep driven by Tandi.
Interestingly, Tandi himself was not wearing face mask while punishing the people for violation of the rules.
Besides, Tandi is not an employee of police department. Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) had donated the jeep to Brajarajnagar police station for patrolling in the area and appointed Tandi as the driver. The MCL was also paying the salary to Tandi.
Jharsuguda SP PR Rahul has ordered an inquiry into the incident and asked MCL to terminate his service.
