Mumbai: During a recent interview with Humans of Bombay, social media influencer Uorfi Javed spoke about how women become a target of trolls if they date or marry a cricketer or any other male athlete and their relationship goes downhill.
Citing the example of choreographer Dhanashree Verma, Uorfi revealed that after parting ways with her cricketer husband Yuzvendra Chahal, she is going through a difficult time.
Dhanashree has become a victim of online hatred following her divorce proceedings with Chahal, shared Uorfi.
The social media influencer said that Dhanashree reached out to her and thanked her for extending support during this tough time.
“I had posted a story in support of her, because I thought she was being treated very unfairly. She reached out to me and thanked me for the support as she was going through a very difficult time,” Uorfi said.
“Everytime a cricketer is breaking up or getting divorced, the woman is bashed left, right and centre just because in our head the cricketer is our hero. None of us has any idea what happened between the two or even during Natasha and Hardik’s case, but of course it’s the woman who is at fault,” Uorfi shared on Instagram.
“Oh and don’t forget the time when Anushka was blamed for Virat’s bad performances. Remember? So it’s always the woman who is to be blamed for the man’s action? These are grown men with fully functioning brains who know what they are doing,” she added.
“In our minds, the cricketers are the heroes and they never do anything wrong. Is the cricketer not a sensible person? Couldn’t he tell if the girl had married him for the money?” she said.
A report by ABP News stated that during a court hearing, Dhanashree and Chahal told the court that they have been living separately for 18 months and have filed for divorce due to ‘compatibility issues.’
Some reports claimed that Dhanashree demanded an alimony of Rs 60 crore from the cricketer.
