Post Modi’s Visit, MakeMyTrip Records Whopping 3400% Rise In Lakshadweep Searches
Mumbai: An online travel company has revealed a massive surge in on-platform searches for Lakshadweep after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to the union territory.
MakeMyTrip claimed on Monday that there has been an astronomical 3400% rise in searches for the picturesque archipelago of 36 atolls and coral reefs in the Laccadive Sea, off Kerala coast.
“NewsFlash: We have observed a 3400% increase in on-platform searches for Lakshadweep ever since Honorable PM’s visit,” MakeMyTrip stated in a post on social media platform X.
Encouraged by the heightened interest in Indian beaches, MakeMyTrip has announced a ‘Beaches of India’ campaign in which it is offering several offers and discounts.
“This interest in Indian beaches has inspired us to launch a ‘Beaches of India’ campaign on the platform with offers and discounts to encourage Indian travellers to explore country’s stunning beaches. Keep watching this space!” MakeMyTrip said.
EaseMyTrip, another online travel company, has suspended all Maldives flight bookings amid the #boycottMaldives campaign.
Some Maldivian ministers and leaders made derogatory comments against PM Modi, mocking his visit to Lakshadweep and promoting it as a destination for tourists.
India registered its strong protest, following which Maldives suspended three ministers.
