Odisha Collected Rs 1 Crore In Fines Under New MV Act: Minister

Bhubaneswar: Around Rs 1 crore was collected as fine for traffic violations between September and November after implementation of Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act 2019, Transport Minister Padmanabha Behera told the Odisha assembly on Thursday.

5,317 persons penalised

Fine collected: Rs 46,00,850

DRIVING WITHOUT INSURANCE

2,111 persons penalised

Fine Collected: Rs 13,79,700

DRIVING WITH POLLUTION UNDER CONTROL CERTIFICATE

1,177 vehicle owners penalised

Fine collected: Rs 38,16,110

DRUNKEN DRIVING

490 people penalised

Fine collected: Rs 7,38,100

The new MV Act was implemented in Odisha on September 1. The  Motor Vehicles Department had issued a total of 4,080 challans to traffic violators, collecting Rs 88.90 lakh as fine, the highest in just four days.
