Imagine the nightmare of running out of charge in any situation! Here are ways to stay prepared and the simplest saviour – Power banks.

A power bank is a big battery or a bank of batteries that you can carry and charge your phone whenever you want without a mains supply. Power banks need to be charged the same way as phones. Power banks come in different capacities, usually from 5000 mAh to 20000 mAh. Higher the mAh rating, the more number of times you can recharge your phone (a typical phone battery is anywhere between 3000mAh to 5000mAh). So, a 20000 mAh power bank can roughly recharge a 3000mAh phone five-six times.

Here are a few popular power banks:

      1. Mi 2i 20000 mAh – Rs 1499
Xiaomi’s bigger power bank has a 5.1V/ 3.6A dual power output and comes with a dual micro-USB/USB-C cable. It has a dedicated low power charging mode (for headsets and fitness bands), which is activated for two hours by pressing the button twice.
      2. Mi 1i 10000 mAh – Rs 899
This is slimmer than the 2i model and comes in an aluminium case. It also has dual USB output with dedicated low power mode. It comes in red and black colour options. Like the 2i, it comes with one year warranty.
      3. Flipkart Smartbuy 20000mAh – Rs 1299
Flipkart’s own power bank comes with dual USB outputs. It is one of the most affordable 20000mAh power banks and it also has an in-built torch.
      4. Lenovo 13000mAh – Rs 999
Lenovo’s power bank has a high conversion rate (more real capacity) and comes with a one year warranty. It can charge only smartphones.

5.Philips 11000 mAh Power Bank (DLP6006B) – Rs 975

6. Syska 20000 mAh Power Bank (P2002J, Power Vault 200) – Rs 1275
It has dual USB C and Micro USB inputs as well as a digital display that shows battery percentage.

7. Ambrane 10000mAh – Rs 789

It is very essential to buy branded certified power banks as unsafe batteries can catch fire.

Apart from power banks, one can use a car charger or a USB cable in the car’s USB port. It is important to use good quality and fast charge capable cables. Similarly, the max current rating of cables as well as chargers need to be compatible with your phone. Another good practice is to keep a good USB cable in your office desk that you can plug in to your laptop’s USB port.
