Preparations On To Move Separated Conjoined Twin Jaga Out Of Cuttack’s SCB
Phulbani: Acting on the directive of the Odisha government to shift separated conjoined twin Jaga from SCB Medical and Hospital to Kandhamal, a two-member team of doctors of the district headquarters hospital (DHH) left for Cuttack on Monday.
Talking to mediapersons, Additional District Medical Officer (ADMO), Kandhamal, Abhay Patnaik said that the team comprising a paediatric and surgery specialist will hold discussions with the superintendent and the head of the department of the SCB regarding the treatment and management.
Stating that a special 108 ambulance van has been arranged for shifting of Jaga, he said that the SCB authorities will take a final call in this regard.
He also said that a special cabin has been kept ready at the maternity and paediatric ward for Jaga.
“Jaga is likely to be discharged today after getting approval from the collector and NHM director,” said SCB Emergency Officer Dr Bhubanananda Maharana.

The twins – Jaga and Kalia – were joined at the head since birth. Following the state government’s intervention and funding, they underwent a complicated surgery for 21 hours in AIIMS- New Delhi in October 2017. They stayed at the country’s premier hospital for two years to allow the doctors to keep an eye on their progress.
Jaga and Kalia were shifted to SCB on September 8, 2019. Kalia, however, died while undergoing treatment at the hospital on November 26 last year.
