Cuttack: One of the separated conjoined twins of Kandhamal district, Jaga, who is undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, may be shifted to the Kandhamal district headquarters hospital.
Earlier on November 25, Jaga’s conjoined twin brother Kalia had died at SCB.
“Jaga was in a critical condition and so he was brought to SCB for treatment and observation under experts. But now his condition is stable and it’s not becessary to keep him here anymore,” Jaga’s mother, Pushpanjali Kanhar said.
Pushpanjali said she has requested the SCB authorities to shift Jaga to Kandhamal district headquarters hospital near her hometown.
According to sources, SCB authorities will discuss this matter with doctors of AIIMS Delhi. The Delhi doctors will also observe Jaga’s condition through video conferencing.
Following this, the SCB authorities will give an observation report, which will include the views of the AIIMS doctors, to the state government. Then it will be decided whether Jaga should be shifted to Kandhamal DHH or not, the sources said.
The twins, Jaga and Kalia, were joined at head since birth. Following the state government’s intervention and funding, they underwent a complicated surgery for 21 hours at AIIMS Delhi in October 2017.
They had stayed in AIIMS for two years to enable the doctors to keep an eye on the progress of their health condition before coming to Odisha in 2019.
After their return, they had been undergoing treatment at SCB in Cuttack. But Kalia’s health condition had started deteriorating in the past few months and he died in November.
