Prez Murmu’s Odisha Visit: Commissionerate Police Makes Elaborate Security Arrangements

Bhubaneswar: Elaborate security arrangements have been made in Bhubaneswar in view of President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to Odisha on November 10 and 11.

According to sources, 55 platoons of police force will be deployed during President Murmu’s two-day visit. Around 300 officials have been given the responsibility to look after the security arrangements.

The full dress rehearsal will be conducted on Wednesday, added sources.

Reviewing the security measures, Commissioner of Police Saumendra Priyadarshi said, “The preliminary part of our security review including a guard of honour was conducted today at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA). We will also conduct the full dress rehearsal for a review tomorrow.”

Priyadarshi added that all the security arrangements will be made strictly abiding by the rule book.

It is pertinent to mention here that after arriving in Bhubaneswar, Murmu will proceed to the pilgrim town of Puri and visit Shree Jagannath Temple. She will also  garland Utkalamani Gopabandhu Das’s statue at Singhadwar. Murmu will have holy ‘Mahaprasad’ inside Jagannath temple after offering puja to the sibling deities

The temple will remain closed for entry of devotees during the visit of the President from 10.30 am. Murmu is scheduled to visit the temple from 12 noon to 1 pm on the day.

She will return to Bhubaneswar in the afternoon and garland the statues of eminent persons here. She will then attend a civic reception at Raj Bhavan in the evening.

On the second day, she will visit Tapoban High School at Khandagiri, Unit-2 Government Girls High School and Kuntala Kumari Sabat Tribal Hostel, where she stayed. She is also scheduled to inaugurate an Odia textbook for engineering and a portal (e-Kumbh) at Jaydev Bhawan before flying back to New Delhi on November 11.
