Private Hospital Owner Arrested For BSKY Irregularities In Odisha’s Cuttack City
Cuttack: Another private hospital in Odisha’s Cuttack city has been found to be involved in misuse of the state government’s Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) and its owner arrested.
Speaking to media persons on Friday, Additional DCP Anil Mishra said the police came to know about the irregularities in implementation of BSKY while investigating a case of negligence in another private hospital.
Mishra said Prasanna Kumar Patra of Bhubaneswar had admitted his wife in JM Care Hospital at Nuapada with certain complications in the beginning of this month. Dr Chinmay Kumar Sahu of the hospital had performed surgery on her and she was discharged later.
After some days, Patra’s wife again developed complicacies and she was admitted to the same hospital. But Dr Sahu did not attend to her on some pleas and she died on March 7. Patra had filed a complaint with police alleging that medical negligence led to death of his wife on the same day.
“During investigation into this case, the police came to know that the JM Care was not empanelled under the BSKY. The documents mentioned that Patra’s wife was admitted to Shobha Hospital, a BSKY empanelled hospital, at Paga in Cuttack,” the additional DCP said. Dr Sahu in connivance with the owner of Shobha Hospital, Ashok Pati and manager Shantanu Pati had carried out the irregularities by forging the documents, he added.
Following this revelation, police arrested both Ashok and Shantanu for irregularities in BSKY and produced them in a local court. Dr Sahu is on bail in connection with the case of medical negligence.
It may be noted that the South Point Hospital in the city was also found to be involved in irregularities under the BSKY and de-empaneled by the health authorities in January.
