New Delhi: The Priyanka Chopra, Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor starrer romantic thriller ‘Aitraaz’ completed 20 years on November 12.
On the film’s 20th anniversary, filmmaker Subhash Ghai took to his social media handle to announce its sequel.
In his post, Ghai revealed that he has got a fine script for the sequel and the work for ‘Aitraaz 2’ is already in progress.
“Now MUKTA ARTS is ready for AITRAZ 2 with the finest script after 3 years of hard work. Just wait and watch,” wrote Ghai.
Sharing a photo of Priyanka Chopra from ‘Aitraaz’, the producer showered praises on the actress for her incredible performance in the original film.
“BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL PRIYANKA CHOPRA DARED N DID IT. That’s why cine lovers cannot forget her performance even after 20 years today in #AITRAZ,” he wrote.

While Ghai didn’t reveal the names of the lead actors roped in for the sequel, his appreciation post for Priyanka sparked speculations about the actress’ role in ‘Aitraaz 2.’
When asked about the sequel’s storyline, Ghai said, “The subject belongs to Amit Rai. He has written another bold issue about today’s sex life with new values and new school of thoughts coming in. You can’t expect it to just be a social drama, it has to have some strong and high notes. We are excited to start the film.”
Helmed by Abbas-Mustan, the 2004 ‘Aitraaz’ is a bold romantic thriller revolving around a man, who is accused of sexually exploiting his female boss.
While Akshay played the role of the accused, Priyanka portrayed the bold character of the female boss who falsely implicated Akshay for harassing her.
The film, which is purportedly inspired by the 1994 Hollywood film ‘Disclosure’, was a major commercial success.
