Priyanka Gandhi Leads In Wayanad With Margin Of Over 4 Lakh Votes
Wayand: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is leading by over 4 lakh votes in Kerala’s Wayanad in the parliamentary by-election.
She is set to succeed her brother Rahul Gandhi as the MP from Kerala’s Wayanad as the seat fell vacant when the Congress MP (Rahul) moved to Raebareli.
CPI veteran Sathyan Mokeri is trailing with about 1 lakh votes while the BJP’s Navya Haridas is in the third spot with about 60,000 votes.
A total of 16 candidates, including Priyanka, are contesting from Wayanad.
Rahul Gandhi was elected from this seat for the first time in 2019. This allowed him to remain a Lok Sabha member despite losing in Amethi.
In 2024, he contested from both Wayanad and Raebareli, left vacant by his mother Sonia Gandhi. Sonia vacated the seat as she moved to Rajya Sabha.
Having won both the seats, Rahul Gandhi decided to keep Raebareli. He let his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to contest from Wayanad.
