Probe Begins Into Ragging In Govt Homeopathy Medical College In Odisha’s Sambalpur

Sambalpur: The National Anti-ragging Cell, New Delhi, has begun a probe into the alleged ragging of a girl student of Odisha Medical College Of Homoeopathy and Research (OMCH&R) in Sambalpur.

Informing the media, principal Rajendra Kumar Singh said that he came to know about the incident after receiving a phone call from the National Anti-ragging Cell regarding the complaint lodged by a girl student of the college on April 1. She was allegedly harassed by five girl students and a boy student on March 31.

Stating that the hostel superintendent had neither informed him about the incident nor he received any written complaint, Singh said that the anti-ragging cell authorities have asked him not to reveal the name of the victim and the six students on this matter.

The principal further said that he will submit a report to the anti-ragging cell in this matter soon.

Sources in the college said that there was an altercation between the complainant and some girl students in the hostel on March 31.
