Protest Over Doctor Vacancies Intensifies At Binika As Locals Observe 12-Hr Bandh
Sonepur: The protest over filling up of doctor posts in Binika community health center and other hospitals in Sonepur district intensified on Friday as locals observed a dawn-to-dusk bandh over the issue.
Almost all business establishments downed their shutters, while vehicles stayed off the roads at various places owing to the strike.
“The bandh supporters alleged that the district administration has remained callous towards our demand, despite repeated requests by locals, members of different organisations, traders and political party representatives since long. This time, the protest will be intensified and all government-run offices will remain closed till fulfillment of the demand”, an agitator said.
A 12-hour bandh was called by the residents of Binika on August 21 to press for the same demand.
On August 13, Congress activists had also called for a 12-hour bandh here to raise the issue.
Members of Bar Association and traders’ union had extended their support to the bandh.
The members of BJP had also observed a strike on August 11 seeking fulfillment of the demand.
