Puri Jagannath Temple Management Panel: Khuntia Nijog Moves Orissa HC Against New Nominations
Puri: The Khuntia Nijog of Jagnnath Temple, here has moved the Orissa High Court against the state government’s decision to reconstitute the Shree Jagannath Temple Management Committee with nomination of 10 new members.
Admitting a petition filed by Krushna Chandra Khuntia, the president of the Nijog, the High Court has issued a notice to all the stakeholders to file their response.
The petitioner stated that though the temple management committee has been reconstituted time and again, the Khuntia Nijog has been deprived of having its representation in the panel. The members of the Nijog perform particular rituals of the deities from the opening of the temple till closing time, he pointed out.
Alleging irregularities in the nomination process, Khuntia appealed to the court to issue instructions to the authorities concerned to nominate a representative of the Nijog in the management committee.
It may be noted that the state government had nominated 10 new members to the temple management committee on August 12.
