Puri: The much-awaited process of inventory of the Ratna Bhandar in Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri commenced on Wednesday and the first day’s exercise was carried out smoothly.
Advanced technology was used during the inventory process which continued for six hours for verification of the ‘Chalanti Ratna Bhandar’ of the 12th century shrine, Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Arabinda Kumar Padhee told reporters.
He said 3D mapping, along with photography and videography, was undertaken to ensure accurate documentation and preparation of a comprehensive inventory.
Around 80 per cent of the movable treasures were counted on the first day of the exercise. The process included detailed enumeration of gold ornaments and items used in the daily rituals of Lord Jagannath. Further proceedings would continue in the coming days, he said.
Notably, the last inventory and assessment of the Ratna Bhandar was conducted in 1978.
During the process, public darshan from Bhitara Katha was restricted, and devotees were allowed to have darshan only from the Bahara Katha.
