Puri Servitor Flaunts Coconut Shell Face Mask

Puri: Human beings are endowed with so much resilience that they make the best out of any situation – even if it is a pandemic.

So, when it became compulsory to wear face masks due to coronavirus, we turned it into a fashion statement. It is now like any other fashion accessory.

Around the world, people have tried different ideas and innovations while working with new designs and styles of masks. There are masks to match the outfit of the day and those embedded with gems and beads to match traditioal outfits. There are gold masks, branded and customised ones too.

Recently, a senior servitor of Puri, Bhimsen Khuntia was seen flaunting a face mask carved out of a coconut shell.

“Coconut is one of the most easily available fruits in India, therefore it’s availability is not a task,” Khuntia added.

“This mask was gifted to me by the son of an artist, Hariprasad Mahapatra,” he added.

“This mask can also be customised and doesn’t involve breathing problems as is the case with cloth masks,” said Khuntia.
