Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government is planning a queue system for hassle-free darshan of the sibling deities at Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri from New Year.
This came as the temple administration anticipates huge influx of devotees for the New Year.
“Arrangements is being made ensuring that devotees can have darshan of Lord Jagannarh in a disciplined manner while standing anywhere from Nata Mandap to Bahara Katha area,” said Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan told reporters on Friday.
The Minister sought support of all stakeholders for successful implementation of queue system under which devotees will enter the temple on one side and exit from other side.
Efforts are underway to make special provisions for Divyang and elderly devotees to have darshan of the deities, he added.
On Thursday, Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee said separate queues for women, children and male devotees will be created. The arrangements are in line with the decision taken at the recent meeting of Law Minister with OBCC officials and temple servitors over raising collapsible barricades and ramps in Natamandap for public darshan.
The devotees will have darshan of the deities from the Natamandap of the temple, he added.
In 2018, a similar experiment witnessed teething trouble as several devotees jumped the queue in early morning and barged into the shrine in groups.
