Bengaluru: Congress president Rahul Gandhi, on Tuesday, said he is ready to become the Prime Minister of India if Congress emerges as the ‘biggest’ party in the upcoming 2019 general elections.
“I am pretty convinced that Mr Modi is not going to be the prime minister. I can see it in his face and he knows it,” Rahul was quoted saying to the reporters.
On a query if he would become the Prime Minister, he said, “Well, it depends on how well the Congress does in the election. I mean if it emerges as the biggest party, yes,” the Congress scion said.
Almost certain that BJP will not be winning the 2019 elections, he said, “It is highly unlikely that the BJP will form the next government, and the second part is that it is close to impossible that Modi will be the next prime minister.”
Earlier, while addressing the students at UC Berkeley, Rahul Gandhi had also said he was ‘absolutely ready’ to be the Prime Ministerial candidate in 2019 elections.
Taking a pot shot at the Prime Minister Modi, he said, the Prime Minister was only doing his ‘Mann Ki Baat.’
“Prime Minister Modi only says his ‘Mann ki Baat’ but doesn’t listens to what the country has to say to him,” Rahul was quoted by ANI.
