On Thursday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lodged a former complaint with Bihar Chief Election Officer (CEO) against Rahul Gandhi over his “dance remarks” on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ANI reported.
Rahul said at an election rally that Modi can do anything for votes, including dance.
In its complaint to the Election Commission, BJP accused the Congress leader of making “highly derogatory, indecent and personal remarks” against the country’s prime minister.
According to the saffron party, the Congress MP’s comment was not only deeply disrespectful to the office of the prime minister, but it “also crosses all boundaries of decency and democratic discourse.”
“Such comments are personal, mocking, and intended to insult the dignity of the highest constitutional office of the Republic of India. The above statement made by Shri Rahul Gandhi is a direct attack on the personal character and dignity of the Hon’ble Prime Minister and has no connection whatsoever with public policy or performance. It amounts to personal vilification and violates the spirit and letter of the Model Code of Conduct,” the complaint added.
Demanding immediate and exemplary action against Rahul, BJP urged the poll body to issue a showcause notice to the Congress leader direct him to tender an unconditional public apology, according to ANI.
