Mumbai: After becoming a target of trolls for liking actress Avneet Kaur’s glamourous pictures on Instagram, Virat took to social media to clarify that he had hit the like button accidentally.
However, singer Rahul Vaidya, who apparently wanted to make the most of this opportunity, took an indirect dig at the cricketer by calling him a ‘Joker.’
In a video shared on his Insta stories, the singer is heard saying, “Main kehna chahta hoon ki aaj ke baad aisa ho sakta hai ki algorithm bohot saare photos like karde jo maine nahi kare. So, jo bhi ladki ho, please don’t do PR around it because it is not my mistake. It is Instagram’s mistake, okay? (I just want to say that henceforth, algorithm can like a number of photos which I haven’t liked. So, all the girls out there, please don’t do PR around it.).”

However, Rahul’s indirect digs at Virat didn’t go down well with the cricketer’s fans, who took to social media to express their displeasure.
While some slammed Rahul for using Virat’s name for publicity, others urged the cricketer’s fans to unfollow the singer.
“Bhai mtlb follower nhi increase ho rhe koi reality show nhi jeeta toh name leke fame lelo 😂😂,” one of the users wrote.
Earlier on Monday, Rahul called out Virat’s fans for abusing his wife and mother.
Referring to Virat’s fans as ‘jokers’, Rahul wrote on his Instagram story, “And now you are abusing me that’s fine but you are abusing my wife my sister.. who have nothing to do with this! So I was right. That’s why you all Virat Kohli fans are jokers! 2 kaudi ke jokers.”
Amid these potshots, Rahul further shared that Virat has blocked him on Instagram.
“So, guys, Virat Kohli has blocked me, all you all know. So I think voh bhi Instagram ki glitch hogi, voh Virat Kohli ne block nahi kiya hoga. Instagram ke algorithm ne bola hoga Virat Kohli ko, ‘Ek kaam kar, main tere behalf pe Rahul Vaidya ko block kar deti hoon.’ Haina?” the singer shared.
For the unversed, Avneet posted sizzling photos of herself in a chic green top and short skirt on her Insta handle on April 30.
Even as fans flooded the comments section with heart emojis, what grabbed the attention of netizens was Virat’s reaction to the post.
Soon, Virat became a butt of trolls, with one user commenting, “Kohli saab what is this behaviour?” and another wrote, “Akaay beta, papa ko phone do.”
Following this, Virat took to his Insta handle to clarify, “I’d like to clarify that while clearing my feed, it appears the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction. There was absolutely no intent behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made. Thank you for your understanding.”
