Bhubaneswar: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday announced the ministry’s sanction for two new projects in Odisha.
During a media interaction, Vaishnaw said the two projects were long-standing demands of the people of the area. While one is Digha-Jaleswar (Chandaneswar-Jaleswar) new line (42 km), the other is Final Location Survey (FLS) for new line between Angul and Nayagarh town.
Stating that Chandaneswar-Jaleswar line project will be done on fast track, he said approval process for it has been completed and work will be started soon. This connectivity will give a boost to the regional economy and tourism.
Jaleswar-Chandaneswar line will connect famous Shiva shrines such as Chandaneswar temple and Bhusandeswar temple. It will also promote regional socio-economic upliftment by ensuring connectivity to students, pilgrims, farmers, local traders and common people.
The Final Location Survey (FLS) for new line between Angul and Nayagarh town via Narasinghpur-Kantilo-Khandapada and a chord line between Khurda town and Kaipadar Road (120 km) has been sanctioned.
It will provide connectivity to Kantilo Nilamadhab temple and wildlife sanctuaries and forest reserves besides a new market for brass and bell metal craft at Kantilo and Khandapada.
The proposed new line will merge with ongoing Khurda-Balangir line at Nayagarh Town station and take off from Khurda Town to Kaipadar Road station in Khurda Road-Vizianagaram main line.
