New Delhi: Indian Railways has rolled out a swanky double-decker train that can run at a speed of up to 160 kmph.
Developed by Rail Coach Factory (RCF) Kapurthala, a single double-decker coach can carry up to 120 passengers.
The Railways said that the double-decker train will be operating on all major railway routes in India.
“This double-decker coach with 160 kmph speed potential was rolled out in presence of RCF’s General Manager Ravinder Gupta and the coach will now be sent to Research and Design Standard Organization (RDSO Lucknow) for further oscillation trials before putting in commercial service,” a statement said.
The coach has been designed with plush interiors, overhead luggage rack, mobile and laptop charging sockets, GPS-based passenger information system and LED destination board.
There are automatic sliding doors at the entry and each coach has a mini pantry to store and serve hot or chilled refreshments.
