Railways To Run 5 Special Trains From & Through Odisha To Clear Diwali Rush

Bhubaneswar: In view of Diwali and Chhat festivities, the Railways has announced special trains to accommodate the surge in passenger demand.

While four trains, including a Jan Sadharan unreserved special train having only general compartments, will originate from Odisha stations, one will run via Bhubaneswar.

MGR Chennai Central – Bhubaneswar – MGR Chennai Central Special

MGR Chennai Central to Bhubaneswar Special will depart from MGR Chennai Central at 11.45 pm on November 13, 20, and 27 (Mondays) and arrive in Bhubaneswar at 6.30 pm. The return journey from Bhubaneswar to MGR Chennai Central will commence at 9 pm on November 14, 21, and 28, 2023 (Tuesdays) and it will reach MGR Chennai Central at 3 pm.

It will have stoppages at Gudur, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Samalkot, Duvvada, Vizianagaram, Palasa, Khurda Road between MGR Chennai Central and Bhubaneswar.

MGR Chennai Central – Santragachi – MGR Chennai Central Special:

MGR Chennai Central to Santragachi Special will have stoppages at Gudur, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Samalkot, Duvvada, Vizianagaram, Palasa, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Bhadrakh, Balasore, Kharagpur between  MGR Chennai Central and Santragachi.

It will depart from MGR Chennai Central at 11.45 pm on November 11, 18, and 25 (Saturdays) and reach Santragachi at 3.45 am on the third day. The return journey from Santragachi to MGR Chennai Central will start at 5 am on November 13, 20, and 27 (Mondays) and reach MGR Chennai Central at 11 am the next day.

Surat– Brahmapur-Surat Special

Surat-Brahmapur Special will depart from Surat at 2.20 pm on November 8, 15, 22, 29, and December 6, 13, 20, and 27 (Wednesdays) and reach Brahmapur at 1.15 am on the third day. The return journey from Brahmapur to Surat will commence at 3.30 am on November 10, 17, 24,  and December 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29 (Fridays) and it will reach Surat at 1.45 pm the next day.

It will have stoppages at Nandubar, Dharangaon, Jalgon, Bhusaval, Akola, Wardha, Ballarsha, Warangal, Vijayawada, Eluru, Rajahmundry, Samalkot, Duvvada, Pendurthi, Kottavalasa, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam Road, Palasa between Surat and Brahmapur.

These apart, Gomti Nagar-Malatipatpur (Puri) Special Fare Puja Special will commence from Gomti Nagar (Lucknow) on November 9 and its last arrival at Malatipatpur is December 2.

An unreserved special train will be run from Bengaluru (SMVB) to Bhubaneswar New on November 10 with return journey on November 11 between Bhubaneswar New and Bengaluru. It will have stoppages at Berhampur, Chhatrapur, Khurda Road and Bhubaneswar in Odisha.

The East Coast Railway (ECoR) sources said an unreserved special train with 23 compartments was planned after witnessing heavy rush in general coaches of the trains on this route.
