More rain forecast for Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Heavy rainfall will continue to batter the state with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting more rain accompanied by gusty surface during the next 24 hours due to a low pressure over west-central Bay of Bengal.
The low pressure area of yesterday now lies over southeast Vidarbha and its neighbourhood. Associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends up to 9.5 km above mean sea level and is tilting southwestwards with height, the Met office here said.
Under this influence, rain and thundershower is likely to occur at most places in coastal districts of the state during the next 24 hours. Similarly, heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over South Odisha, it said.
Gusty surface wind from south-easterly direction with speed reaching 35-45 kmph and gusting up to 55 kmph is likely to prevail along and off the Odisha Coast. As sea condition would be moderate to rough, the MeT office has advised fishermen to be cautious while venturing into sea.
