Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday forecast thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhan], Balasore and Bhadrak on Friday.

The weather condition will prevail from 8.30 am on Friday to 8.30 am on Saturday.

Light thunderstorm with lightning and light rain is also likely in some parts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Koraput, Gaja[ati, Nabaranpur, Rayagada, Nayagarh, Kalahandi, Balangir and Sonepur this evening.

People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect from a lightning strike.

The rain prediction has come as a relief for forest department officials, five service personnel and the ODRF team engaged in dousing the raging wildfire in Simlipal National Park.

“The proactive approach of Govt with ODRAF/ PRI add on & rigorous 24*7 work by field staff has resulted in containment of fire in Simlipal & State. Today State has registered only 210 fire points with only 1 point in Simlipal,” former PCCF Sandeep Tripathy tweeted on Thursday.
