“A cyclonic circulation formed over the north-west Bay of Bengal on Friday is most likely to concentrate into a low-pressure in the next 36 hours. Under its influence, rainfall will start from Saturday night in most parts of the North Odisha. The intensity of rainfall will increase from Sunday morning with heavy rainfall in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts. As the low pressure will gradually move in the north-west direction, there will be heavy rainfall at most places in Malkangiri and Koraput districts,” said a release by the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar.
Under the influence of the low pressure, there will be moderate rainfall in the coastal districts of Puri and Khurda districts on August 27. Besides, one or two places Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Bargarh, Sonepur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal districts would witness heavy rainfall on August 29.
The release has also issued thundershower and lightning alert for Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Kalahandi and Koraput districts and advised the people to stay indoors till 2.45 pm. Besides, there is a possibility of rain and thundershower in Bhubaneswar during the period, it added.
