Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for three districts, including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, till 9 pm on Friday.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers with lightning and gusty surface wind 30-40 kmph may occur at a few places over the districts of Dhenkanal, Cuttack (including Cuttack city) and Khurda (including Bhubaneswar).
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
Notably, the weather had warned of thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj till Saturday morning.
Similar weather conditions may prevail in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj during the subsequent 24 hours.
