Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain for several districts of Odisha, including Bhubaneswar, till 4.10 pm on Sunday.
The weather agency has warned of light to moderate rain or thunderstorm accompanied by lightning at one or two places in the districts of Nabarangpur, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak and Balasore till 3.55 pm.
Similar weather conditions may prevail in Jharsuguda, Boudh, Sonepur and Bargarh till 4.10 pm, and Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Deogarh and Puri till 3.30 pm.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
The warnings have come amid IMD’s forecast about formation of a fresh low-pressure area over eastcentral and adjoining northeast Bay of Bengal off Myanmar-Bangladesh coasts around September 25.
