Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for 11 districts of Odisha, including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, till 5.30 pm on Tuesday.
Light rain or thunderstorm with lightning may occur at one of two place in the districts of Kendrapada, Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Puri (including Puri city), Angul, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Ganjam Nayagarh, Gajapati and Kandhamal in three hours.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.

The prevailing weather condition in the state is being attributed to moisture-laden north-easterly winds blowing from the Bay of Bengal and local heating. The IMD has warned of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) in several districts of the state till October 25.
