Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Kataka till around 4.30 pm on Tuesday.
Light to moderate rain along with thunderstorm and lightning may occur at one or two places in the districts of Khordha (including Bhubaneswar) and Kataka (including Kataka city) in the next 3 hours. People have advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
According to the midday bulletin, heavy rain may also lash Sundaragada, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamala, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati and Ganjam districts on August 4. There is also a warning of thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (30-40 kmph) for Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonpur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamala, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput,
Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagada.
The intensity of rain may increase in the subsequent days, it added.
