Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow warnings for 17 districts of Odisha, including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, till 4.45 pm on Thursday.
Moderate thunderstorm/lightning and moderate to heavy rain may occur at one or two places in Malkangiri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Sambalpur districts.
The weather agency has warned of minor damage to loose/unsecured structures, banana trees and standing crops. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places accordingly.
Light to moderate thunderstorm/lightning and light to moderate rain may also affect some parts of Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Koraput, Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
